During the mid 1880s Remington developed a light weight version of their popular No.1 sporting rifle, naming it the Remington No. 1 - 1/2. The new gun had a thinner receiver and weighed significantly less than the No. 1, and was intended for black powder rimfire and low power centerfire. The No. 1 - 1/2 production ran only two years, 1884-1886, and is estimated only 2,700 were built. This example, serial number 8991, is an exquisite example with a beautiful case hardened frame, and blued 28" tapered octagon barrel. Chambered in .32 rimfire. CONDITION: Near mint overall. 95-98% bright case color on frame and 80-85% on the buttplate. 95+% bright heavy blue on the barrel with areas of light freckling. Bore is bright and clean. Action is tight and crisp. Would be hard to improve on. -MKS-
