Volcanic Repeating Arms Company large frame Navy pistol with 8" barrel. Brass with blue barrel, and two piece varnished walnut grips. German silver post front and "V" notch rear sights. Serial number 384 observed on frame under right side grip. Serial number 384 also observed on inside of side plates, toggle link, bolt, bolt carrier, and right side of loading lever. Serial number 384 also found on inside both grips panels. Barrel address marked in three lines "THE VOLCANIC/REPEATING ARMS CO./PATENT NEW HAVEN CONN. FEB. 14. 1854". CONDITION: Fine overall. Barrel mostly a gunmetal/brown patina with scattered light abrasions. Bore is fine with moderate abrasion. Brass frame is excellent showing an unpolished mustard color patina. Balance of metal a gunmetal/brown patina. Grips do not fit frame properly, have a sizable gouge on right side and chips of wood missing on left side at heel. Action operates correctly. -MKS-
