Wonderful early American folk art polychrome wood carving of the Delaware Coat of Arms, framed and dated 1871. Nice folky look with great color and original patina. Carved in high relief from one solid block of wood. Inscribed "The Diamond State" across top, with "Liberty and Independence" state motto in center of seal. Hand painted, and marked across bottom "My adopted state, Delaware Coat of Arms, 1871, Cut out of the solid by Thomas J. Snyder of Newport, Del.". Hand carved details include a band of tools and Masonic imagery across bottom. Hand made frame appears to be original to the piece. Dimensions: 19" by 16" by 2 - 3/4" deep. Framed: 22" by 19" by 3 - 3/4" deep.

Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).
