Colt Bankers Special double action revolver. 2" barrel chambered in .38 Special. Fixed full radius front blade and square notch rear sights. Blue with two piece checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions. Marked: "R.M.S. P.O. DEPT." on the backstrap and the number "No. 16109" stamped on the butt. This marking stands for the "Railway Mail Service" (R.M.S.) and was a division within the Post Office Department. The Railway Mail Service carried the majority of letters and packages mailed in the United States during its existence between the years 1864-1948. CONDITION: Excellent with 85-90% original blue with areas of light freckling. Bore is bright, action is tight and crisp. Grips show moderate to heavy wear, with chipping around the butt. -MKS-
