Lot consists of: (A) Uruguayan/French converted Mauser Model 71 bolt action single shot rifle. Converted in 1894 at the French Saint Denis Arsenal. These rifles were converted to fire 6.5x53 Deaudetau for the Uruguayan military. Rifles were also restocked and fitted with a Bertiher style clearing rod and bayonet lug. The Lebel style barrel is correctly marked "LFTP/ST. DENIS" in script on the chamber area. Receiver bears its correct French proofs and is dated 1880. All the bolt components match, in addition to matching the receiver. Stock is not numbered, nor is the barrel or trigger guard. Standard arsenal finish on the metal has given away to nice patina in areas. Stock bears its original finish as well. No import mark found. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with light wear and patina in areas. Stock is very good with minor handling dents and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted, but does retain crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) Imperial German Mauser Model 71 single shot bolt action rifle. Standard un-converted rifle made at Steyr in 1874. Rifle bares its correct German proofs and acceptance stamps. Correct military blue on the barrel, while the receiver is still correctly in the white. Barrel and receiver match. Bolt does not match, but all bolt components match themselves. All other small parts, including screws, have non matching numbers to the gun. Stock bears its original finish and is not numbered, but bears military acceptance marks. Unit markings on the top of the buttplate read "B/17.R/E.4 35". No import mark found. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with wear and patina in areas. Stock is good overall with minor dings, scratches and gouges. Crisp rifling in the bore. Mechanically fine. JWA
