One of just 5,000 Model 1906 M2 Royal Portuguese Army Lugers manufactured by DWM between 1908-1910. The receiver is stamped with a crown over an intertwined "M2" for King Manuel II (the last reigning monarch of Portugal) over the chamber, with the "DWM" monogram stamped on the toggle. Small Portuguese triangle within circle proofs are present on the receiver, barrel, frame, and bottom of wood magazine base. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the grips which are unnumbered, and the firing pin which is mismatched. Accompanying this example is an original third pattern Portuguese leather holster, maker marked "A.E" on the interior, signifying manufactured by Arsenal do Exercito in Lisbon. Holster contains an original Portuguese cleaning rod with oiler handle, as well as an original pin punch tool. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to patina, as well as some areas of light oxidation. Grip straps and grip safety show areas of light surface oxidation as well as some light pitting. Bore exhibits oxidation and fair rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing and impressions, with a few nicks to the diamonds. Leather holster shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, with the flaps exhibiting age-related cracking and some minor crazing. Cleaning rod pouch flap is missing its on either side. MLW
