One of only 564 Model 1935/06 Lugers manufactured by Mauser under contract for the Portuguese military. Receiver bears an intertwined "GNR" over the chamber area for the Garde Nationale Republicanie (Republic National Guard), with a crown over "U" proof on the left hand side. Crown over "U" proof is also present on the left side of the breechblock and on the bottom of the barrel. Features include a 4 - 5/8" barrel, grip safety, and 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Safety is marked "SEGURANCA" and extractor is marked "CARREGADA". Matching numbers are present on the frame, locking bolt, sideplate, trigger, barrel, receiver, breechblock, and toggles. Grip safety, firing pin, and grips are unnumbered. This example is accompanied by a proper period Portuguese leather holster that has been lacquered. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their arsenal reapplied finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to a pleasant brown patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting moderate oxidation and good rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing as well as a few nicks to the diamonds but are otherwise sturdy and serviceable. Holster is good as lacquered, exhibiting some scattered handling and storage marks overall. Cleaning rod flap is missing one of its ears. A nice example of a rare Portuguese Model 1935/06 Portguese "GNR" marked Luger. MLW
