P.08 manufactured by Erfurt during the Great War. Receiver is marked "1917" over the chamber with Erfurt proofs and an Imperial German Reichsadler on the right side. Imperial German Reichsadler is also present on the barrel and left side of the breechblock. Toggle is marked crown over "ERFURT". Matching numbers include the frame, locking bolt, trigger, trigger sideplate, safety lever, hold-open latch, receiver, barrel, trigger bar, toggles, breechblock, extractor, checkered walnut grips, and magazine. Receiver axle appears to be a replacement. Breechblock has been damaged and is missing a section on the left side of the extractor. Front sight has been replaced. CONDITION: Metal components retain pleasant amounts of their arsenal applied rust blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning all around from use. Strawed components retain some of their finish, but exhibit wear and thinning all around. Bore is pitted and retains fair rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips show smoothing, as well as some nicks to the checkering. A nice example of an Erfurt manufactured German World War I P.08 pistol. -MLW-
