French production No. 1 Model St. Etienne Gaulois palm pistol. Made 1880s at the St. Etienne arsenal in France. Barrel marked "GAULOIS", with a French proof mark. St. Etienne logo behind the dust cover, on top of the frame. Sliding dust cover is marked "No. / 1". Round barrel with a rib and bead front sight. Serrations on the front of the frame with checkering on palm squeeze. Original finish on the metal frame has formed a nice patina in most areas. No import/export mark. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with mild wear, patina and scattered pitting. Bore is heavily frosted with poor rifling. Mechanically fine. REW
