Lot consists of a Lithgow No. I MK III* and a Ishapore NO. I MK III bolt action rifles. (A) SMLE No. I MK III manufactured in 1944 by Lithgow. The right side of the receiver is import stamped, but is indiscernible. Matching numbers include the receiver, bolt, and nosecap. Metal components have been refinished and the stock appears to have been lightly sanded and revarnished. Complete with a web sling and 1907 dated bayonet with scabbard. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their reapplied finish, showing few nicks and wear around. Rear sight ears show the most wear with the majority retaining a grey patina. Bore is dark and frosted, but retains strong rifling throughout. (B) SMLE No. I MK II. This rifle appears to have been made in Ishapore, as "R.I/ 1944" is barely legible beneath the application of black paint. Right side of the receiver is import stamped "C.A.I. ST ALB VT". Matching numbers are a forced match and include the receiver, bolt, nosecap, and magazine. The forend and handguard are wire wrapped and a steel screw was inserted ahead of the magazine for added durability when firing a grenade out of the grenade cup discharger. A similarly painted grenade cup discharger is present with this rifle. Complete with canvas sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain a black painted finish, with a good amount of the applied paint showing wear and flaking off all around. Bore is bright and retains strong rifling throughout. Stock shows numerous dings and a repair just ahead of the magazine. MLW
