Built by Sharps Rifle Company Hartford, Connecticut originally as a "New Model 1863" percussion ignition carbine, this carbine has been converted to 50-70 and designated as a Model 1868. Blued round carbine length barrel with original rear flip sight and blade front. Case hardened frame with Sharp's and Lawrence patents. Cam firing pin conversion. Slide bar with saddle ring. Walnut iron banded forearm with walnut buttstock with illegible cartouche on left behind slide bar. No patchbox. CONDITION: 80% blue with light freckling. Fading case turning to a plum color with light freckling. Wood has traces of original finish with handling marks and wear. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
