Manufactured 1917 according to Cody research. Standard "trench gun" configuration with ventilated heat shield featuring a bayonet lug. Marked on the right side, just above the bayonet lug "PAT.APPL.FOR". "US" over flaming ordnance bomb on the right side of the receiver just ahead of the ejection port. No other military markings on gun. Correct CYL choked barrel. Barrel is correctly grooved under the heat shield for the retaining screws, and shows no evidence of having had a barrel mounted front sight or any shortening. Butt has proper style sling swivel. CONDITION: Very good, with about 70% amount of original deep blued finish mixed with a pleasing patina and some light old surface rust. All markings are clear. Bore is shiny with some minor areas of roughness. Wood has some dings and handling marks, varnish wear on the butt. Original buttplate. Fine mechanical function. GR
