August Francotte 18E Grade side by side shotgun made in Liege, Belgium and imported into the United States by Von Lengerke & Detmold, New York, New York circa 1920. Fine blued fluid steel barrels with matted rib with precious metal cross rib inlay with vignette engraved rib extension and bead front sight. Top of barrels are marked "Von Lengerke & Detmold U.S. Agents". Boxlock vignette and scroll engraved case hardened action with side clip barrel lugs with chiseled floral engraving pattern. Scalloped area of action allowing for finely checkered side panels on each side of stock. Action is marked on each side "A. Francotte Maker & Patented Liege, Belgium". Gun has double triggers, ejectors, and automatic safety. Fine figured walnut pistol grip stock with fine line checkering and added Silver's style rubber recoil pad. Walnut finely complete coverage checkered splinter forearm with engraved push-button release. Comes with Maker label marked leather-covered trunk case with fine plush lining. CONDITION: 90% plus blue with some small handling marks. 60% fading action colors with balance fading to a silvery patina. 70% original hand-rubbed finish with stock probably cut for addition of modern looking period "Silver's" type recoil pad. Small chip behind top tang and on forearm with some usage marks and dings. Excellent bores and mechanics. Case has some external scuffs and marks but is in generally good condition. DLM
