Probably made for a reenactor or for museum or teaching purposes. This musket has a round unmarked British style barrel with bayonet lug on top, near muzzle. The lock is marked "FREDG / 1776" at the tail. The brass furniture is of British Long Land Battern Brown Bess style. The wrist escutcheon has a modern inscription which reads "US / 2nd Reg./ Va. Vols. / Lt. Wm. Collins". Stocked in plain walnut, complete with an iron ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown patina. Lock is missing frizzen spring and has been chemically aged and colored. Brass retains a mustard patina. Stock shows scattered marks. A nice contemporary copy of an extremely scarce and desirable Revolutionary War musket. DMG
