Manufactured in 1942 by Mauser, this P.08 is marked with an eagle over "L" proof mark on the right side of the receiver, an eagle over "N" proof on the left, and is also fitted with a sear safety on the left side, indicating that this pistol was issued to a unit in a police or postal department. This example has been fitted with an Erma/Erfurt .22 caliber conversion kit, which features an extended barrel, .22 caliber toggle assembly and chamber insert, as well as a nickel plated .22 caliber magazine. Conversion components are marked with an eagle over "WaA49" waffenamt. Matching numbers on the pistol include the frame, locking bolt, trigger, trigger sideplate, safety bar, safety lever, hold-open latch, barrel, receiver, and trigger bar. Receiver axle appears to be a forced match. Matching numbers on conversion kit components include the toggle assembly, rear sight link, breechblock, firing pin, and the barrel sleeve. Breechblock and barrel are also matched by the number "0.116". Magazine bottom is marked "0.131" Checkered walnut grips are unnumbered and unmarked. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their blue finishes, showing some areas of wear that lightly show through to patina, and small scattered areas of surface level oxidation. Mirror bore, with well defined rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips are good, showing a some smoothing and a few scattered handling marks. A nice example of a World War II era .22 caliber converted P.08 Luger. -MLW-
