Lot consist of: (A) Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver. Made 1856. Octagon steel barrel with "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW. YORK CITY". Serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt, and cylinder all match. "COLTS/PATENT" is marked on the left side of the frame above a spurious "U.S." stamp. Naval engagement scene can be seen on the cylinder. Metal components have been polished and clean with no reapplied finish. Custom engraving on the barrel, loading lever, frame, hammer, and trigger guard. Blade front sight. Brass grip straps. Aftermarket plastic horn style grips with a women holding a shield and spear embellished on the right panel. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with signs of heavy polish and cleaning. Grips have handling marks, scratches and are loose on the straps. Bore is poor with some light pitting and little retained rifling. Hammer is tight. Loose cylinder with some timing issues. Nipples show signs of heavy use. Mechanically operable. (B) Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver. Made 1865. Octagon steel barrel with "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". Serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt, and cylinder all match. "COLTS/PATENT" is marked on the left side of the frame. "36 CAL" marked on the left side of the trigger guard. Naval engagement scene still visible on the cylinder. Brass bead front sight. Rear grip strap has a very interesting "OVERLAND MAIL & Ex. Co. 12" etched, possibly retaining to the Overland Mail and Express company operating in the late 1860's. Blued barrel with a case hardened frame, loading lever, and hammer. Brass trigger guard and back straps. Walnut grips. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with wear, handling marks, and scratches. Grip straps show signs of polish. Grips are very good with light handling marks and scratches. Bore is good overall with no real pitting and good retained rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good timing. Nipples are in very good condition. Mechanically fine. (C) Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver. Made 1861. Octagon steel barrel with "ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT". Serial numbers on the barrel, frame, and trigger guard all match. Serial on the cylinder and butt are illegible. "COLTS/PATENT" is marked on the left side of the frame. Blade front sight. Reapplied nickel finish on all the metal components. Walnut grips looking to be original. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its reapplied nickel finish with heavy wear and patina. Some areas have some light pitting. Grips are good overall with handling marks and scratches. Right side has a large crack in it. Bore is heavily frosted with poor rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good timing and lockup. Nipples show signs of heavy use. Mechanically fine. JWA
