Late 4th Model Winchester Model 1866 rifle, made in 1879, serial number 152477. One of the later rifles made up from left over 1866 carbine frames. Left side of frame shows plugged holes for saddle ring staple. Serial number of record being 152477 located on outside the bottom tang. Inside the bottom tang is serial number 1646 with assembly numbers "33" and "266". Serial number 1646 found inside the stock top tang channel. 24" round barrel with full length magazine tube. Brass frame with iron forearm cap and crescent, rifle style buttplate. Winchester Museum Letter dated February 06, 2020 and signed by Jessica A. Bennett. List serial number 152477 as a carbine. Received in the warehouse on December 15, 1879 and shipped from warehouse on May 22, 1883. Notation: "To Round". CONDITION: Fine overall. Barrel showing a pleasing blue turning to brown patina. Brass showing a light patina with minor scratches and dings. Wood has been sanded and not flush with the tangs. Bore is fine showing strong rifling and moderate abrasion. Action is tight and crisp. -MKS-
