Charleville style smoothbore musket with unknown origin made circa the late 18th or early 19th centuries. Smoothbore barrel with three iron barrel bands with front band having a blade front sight and "P" in circle stamp at breech. Barrel has lug for socket style bayonet. Flint lock marked "V. Forge 1775" with single trigger control. Walnut full musket style stock with three bands middle having a sling swivel and front 2 having spring retainers and last not. Stock has initials "D E d" punch marked on left side of stock. Reproduction steel ramrod. CONDITION: Gun would make an excellent display piece. Lock has added "Valley Forge" markings along with "P" in circle proof. Gun still has aged patina look and functions fine with some small replaced internal lock parts. Missing sling swivel loops. Dark pitted bore. DLM
