Manufactured in 1891 in the desirable .44-40 caliber. This was one of Colt's attempts to get into the rifle market. This gun has factory sling swivels. Steel carbine butt plate. 2 piece checkered fore grip and straight rear stock. 1 barrel band. Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame. CONDITION: Barrel and magazine tube have turned a pleasing gray patina. The action has 5% of the original blue in the protected areas the rest has turned gray. Checkered fore stocks show normal wear. The rear stock has a couple of repairs up by the tang. The bore is dark with some slight pitting in the lands and grooves. Action works smoothly. REW
CORRECTION: After further review, there is a bulge in the barrel near the middle of the forearm.
