Springfield Model 1898 Krag bolt action rifle, serial number 290536. 30" round barrel chambered in .30-40 Krag (.30 Army) complete with 1902 rear sight with military blade front. One piece plain walnut stock with single barrel band and forearm cap with bayonet lug. "JSA" cartouche in oval, dated 1903 in left of stock near wrist. Stock is post-factory marked on right side "NED TROUT" / (medallion with "U.S") / ((medical Caduceus symbol)) / "WAR" / "1918" / "1942" with "NED TROUT" / "1942" on left side. CONDITION: Very good with blued assemblies turning a blue gray patina with minor handling marks and scattered light pitting. Receiver is a mottled dove gray patina with no traces of color remaining. Stock is very good with approximately a four inch area of darkness on left side of forearm near cap and live crack on top of forearm near sight. Stock retains nearly all of it's original finish with moderate gouging, dents, and handling marks. Action works correctly. Bore is dark with sharp rifling. -TN-
