Springfield model 1873 Trapdoor single shot rifle. Made 1891 with incorrect 1873 breech block. Barrel retains its correct "VP" over eagle proofs on the barrel. Stock has no cartouche. No "U.S." stamp on top of the butt plate. Early style sight missing its sliding tangent. Stock has been cut back to just forward of the rear sight. Barrel has not been cut. Standard round steel barrel. Original finish has formed a patina in most places. Smooth finish wood stock with metal butt plate. Includes a picture of Geronimo with a rifle in similar configuration. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with general wear and patina. Stock is very good with minor handling marks and scratches. There is a small crack to the rear of the lock plate. Bore has some minor pitting toward the muzzle with good overall rifling left. Mechanically fine. JWA
