Allin Conversion Model 1866 Trapdoor Springfield single shot carbine, chambered in .45-70. Believed to be an American Indian used carbine. The wood is extremely dry showing high use. Forearm is barely held together with tanned deer hide. The barrel/forearm band is rotated upside down and is being held in place with slivers of wood, tacks, and hide. 9 brass tacks inline on the right side of the stock in a "snake like" fashion. CONDITION: Fair, showing a heavy brown patina overall with areas of corrosion. Action operates. Bore is dark with heavily corrosion. During my years of collecting, and studying guns of the West, if ever I saw a carbine I truly believed was an authentic Indian gun, this is it! A most colorful early trapdoor carbine. -MKS-
