Classic Jaeger form with long full stock. Simple bead front sight and notch rear sight. Octagonal barrel signed "SPAETH A AROLSEN". .69 caliber bore with deep rifling. Brass shim at halfway point of stock, possible a duffel cut repair. Characteristic flowy Germanic brass furniture decorated at finials with starbursts. Right side of stock with patchbox. A pair of rings have been inset under the cheekpiece, presumably for displaying the rifle on a wall. Horn nosecap. Lock does not fit quite right and is stamped with what appears to be an Arabic character; mortise has been aggressively reduced to fit lock. Double set triggers. Reverse of lock with brass sideplate en suite, with small sticker reading "59". Reconverted from percussion with visible threads where drum was screwed in, leaving a behemoth "touch hole" in its place. Horn tipped ramrod retained by a single reinforced ferrule. CONDITION: Good as reconverted with a consistent attractive patina across metal. Wood is very good with several bumps and bruises acquired over a lifetime of use. Wood has had an extra layer of protective finish added. Action does not work correctly but does hold on half cock, rifling is strong but does have some darkness throughout. One screw for lock is missing. A nice display piece. EW
