Extremely large 8 gauge single barrel shotgun made by "Adams & Co. Finsbury Place, South London" circa the late 19th century. These guns were often used by market hunters in the 1880's and 1890's. 36" Damascus smoothbore shotgun with bead front sight and flat topped breech and marked on top of barrel "ADAM"S & CO. 9 FINSBURY PLACE SOUTH LONDON". Case hardened under lever frame with "ADAMS & CO." marked back action lock with single trigger control. Walnut "English Straight Grip" checkered stock with hooked leather covered recoil pad. Walnut checkered splinter forearm with keyed attachment and horn forearm cap. CONDITION: Barrel turning to a brown patina with 40% fading case colors on action. Wood has traces of original finish with small dings and gouges in buttstock. Checkering is worn but still pronounced. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
