Lot consists of (A) Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor Carbine made in 1880. Round tapered rifled barrel with pinned blade front sight with "C" marked rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Breechblock marked "U.S. Model 1873". "U. S. Springfield" marked lock with 2 piece trigger guard and 3 position hammer. Walnut Carbine stock with "SWP 1880" cartouche, saddle ring bar (missing ring) and compartment buttplate with "U.S." and "32" on top. CONDITION: Overall good with 50% original finish remaining with wear on carry areas. Good bore and mechanics. (B) Springfield Model 1884 trapdoor carbine made in 1886. Blued round rifled tapered barrel with pinned blade front sight and Buffington rear sight. Blued breechblock marked "U.S. Model 1873". 3 position hammer with lock marked "U.S. Springfield". Walnut carbine style stock with 2 piece trigger guard, trap compartment buttplate and slide rail for saddle ring. CONDITION: Overall poor with heavy usage and pitting. Sight missing ladder. Hammer missing screw. Wood has dry appearance with shrinkage and hard wear. Pitted bore with good mechanics. DLM
