Lot consist of: (A) Fine Colt Official Police double action revolver. Made 1933. Matching serials on the frame and yolk. Round steel barrel with typical 1884, 1905, and 1926 patent dates on the top. Left side of the barrel is marked "COLT OFFICIAL/POLICE 38". Sharp "VP" proof on the left side of the trigger guard. Large half moon front blade sight with U notch cut out rear. Factory dark blued finish on the metal components with the hammer being left in the white. Checkered wood grips with silver Colt emblems on both sides. CONDITION: Metal retains 98% of its original finish, with a few light handling marks. Grips are excellent, with a few minor handling marks on the bases. Bore is sharp with crisp rifling. Hammer and cylinder are tight. Excellent timing and lockup. Very light drag line on the cylinder. Mechanically excellent. (B) Colt Officer's Model double action revolver with box. This is an interesting gun, as the frame looks to have been made 1923, but the barrel has a "26" patent date on it. This frame may have sat in the factory before being installed after 1926 and then shipped. No factory refurbishment marks were found. Left side of the barrel is marked "OFFICERS MODEL 38" with Maltese crosses on both ends. "VP" proof on the left side of the trigger guard. Matching serial numbers on the yolk and frame. Round, steel barrel with adjustable blade front sight and adjustable U notch rear. Factory blued finish with the hammer left in the white. Checkered wood stocks with silver Colt medallions on each panel. Correct fiber board box, showing no serial numbers. A test target not numbered to the gun is included in the box CONDITION: Metal retains 95% or more of its barrel with light wear on the barrel and grip straps. Grips are very good with minor handling marks. There is a large gouge on the bottom of the left panel. Bore is clean with sharp rifling. Overall tight cylinder, with some light movement on the hammer. Good timing and lockup. Light drag lines on the cylinder. Mechanically excellent. Box is good overall with light edge wear and handling marks. JWA
