The unmarked blade of this M36 SS Dagger exhibits fine original factory cross graining and dark burnishing to the "Meine Ehre Heißt Treue" motto. A few light runner marks can be seen down the length of the blade. The upper and lower nickel plated zinc cross-guards show minor patina and freckling from age throughout. The black ebony grip has no major chips or damage other than a few small dings on the reverse of the grip. The inlaid zinc national eagle and SS roundel are nicely, and originally, executed. The top pommel nut does not appear to have been removed. The black painted scabbard has very light superficial marks throughout the painted area. The upper throat and lower drag fittings are nickel plated zinc with minor patina which matches that of the daggers guards suggesting the scabbard and dagger have been married together from the beginning. The center M36 band and chain are the steel plated Type C variation. This is the later produced model of the M36 Chained SS Daggers with an open "Wonton Knot". The chain is nicely machine stamped on the rear with the SS logo, and the belt clip has the "DRGM" mark, which is usually seen on the Type C daggers as well. All five of the scabbard's screws appear completely untouched. CONDITION: A very nice example of what appears to be an untouched Type C M36 Chained SS Dagger in Overall Excellent Condition. D.W.
