Federal Ordnance M1 Tanker Garand semi automatic rifle. Made up from surplus parts by Federal Ordnance in the 1980s, this rifles hang tag being dated "9/3/85". Rifle features a shorter barrel and operating rod than a normal M1 Garand, for a shorter appearance. Cast receiver on this rifle was made by Federal Ordnance, with their markings on the heel. Barrel marked "308" on the left side. Springfield marked trigger group and bolt. Op-rod is not marked. Stock has no markings, minus a "circle F", probably made by Federal Ordnance. Blade front sight with lockbar M1 Garand style rear. Phosphate style finish on most of the parts. Walnut stock and metal but plate with trap door. Includes original box hand numbered to match, hang tag, manual, tools, sling and two eight round clips. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its original and reapplied finishes with some wear and handling marks. Wood has a few minor dents and scratches. Bore is clean overall with sharp rifling retained. Mechanically fine. Accessories are excellent. Box has some light wear with the interior Styrofoam disintegrating. JWA
