Winchester Model 70 Carbine bolt action rifle cataloged from 1936 to 1946 by Winchester Repeating Arms Company. This gun was made in 1947 and is in scarce special order caliber ".32 W.S.". Gun has blued 20" carbine barrel with hooded ramp style sight and plugged rear dovetail and Lyman 48WJS receiver sight. Barrel has Winchester address with "MODEL 70 32W.S." marking on left side in front of barrel boss. Barrel is marked on underside "32" and dated "41". Blued Type II transition style action with cloverleaf tang and correct rear and front drilled bridges. Correct solid bolt handle bolt numbered"70562" which matches action serial number with correct 3-position transition type safety. Walnut pistol grip checkered low comb stock with "B" in channel marking with blued steel checkered buttplate with Widow's Peak and standard sling bows. Blued steel detachable floorplate. PROVENANCE: George Baumer Collection. CONDITION: 90% barrel blue with case wear on hood and muzzle. 90% action blue with operation wear on bolt handle which is turning a light shade of grey. Floorplate has handling wear and some nicks and retains 70% original blue. Buttplate has blue fading to silvery-grey patina. Wood has dark original finish with some small usage marks and dings. Good bore and mechanics. A chance to own a rare transition Model 70 in scarce carbine form in an even scarcer special order caliber. DLM
