Built in 1928 in a classic hunting caliber by one of London’s best rifle makers. This vintage boxlock double rifle is built with 26" dovetailed blacked steel side by side barrels with dolls head rib extension third fastener. The barrels are fitted with ejectors, raised matte quarter rib with platinum lined express rear sight. Rear sight with 2 leaves one standing marked 100 and the leaves marked 200 & 300. Front sight is a hooded raised matte ramp island sight with a flip-up white moon sight. The top rib ahead of the quarter rib is engraved “.470 BORE.” in block font. The right barrel near breech is engraved “HOLLAND & HOLLAND.” The left barrel near breech is engraved “98. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON." Importers name and address "DOUBLE GUNS NASHVILLE, TN” is stamped on the bottom of the right barrel in white ahead of forend loop. The forend loop is stamped “13834” and the number “32013” is stamped over “32103” on reinforced splinter. Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 470 NE, “470 EX” and “CORDITE 75-500 MAX”. The grey patina PHV-1 boxlock action features automatic safety, third fastener, disk set strikers, and double triggers – the front trigger is serrated and the back trigger is smooth. Action is lightly engraved with scrolls on left and right sides of both hinge pin covers, “HOLLAND & HOLLAND” is engraved on both sides of the action body near action flat. Blued floorplate, trigger guard, and top lever. The top lever and safety slide are checkered – top lever on left side. “SAFE” engraved on top strap ahead of safety slide. Number “32013" is on trigger guard tang which extends to case hardened steel grip cap. The action flat is stamped with London Proof House’s view marks and number “32103”. Deep alkanet colored lightly streaked and figured English walnut capped pistol grip buttstock over a black leather-covered pad, features flat top pattern checkering at grip and a sling eye, matching that on barrel, as well as a silver oval engraved “IMV” on toe line. Matching splinter forend has blued lever release. Interior forend iron metal has grey patina and number “32103”. Drop at heel: 2 - 5/8", drop at comb: 1 - 5/8". Weight: 11 lbs. 0 oz. LOP: 14 - 5/8". Rifle lives in a Holland & Holland green canvas case with tan leather trim. Interior is lined in green cloth and has a HOLLAND & HOLLAND black and gold leather trade label on lid. CONDITION: Good. Rifle has two different serial numbers stamped on various components which are transposed from each other (the numbers "1" and "0"). Barrels retain 85 - 90% black with numerous light marks and scratches and a bit of silvering around muzzles. Action with not much of its original case color hardening. Floorplate, top lever, and trigger guard retain approximately 80% of their original blue. Stock has a repair on left side near action with wood insert and a number of handling marks and scratches in stock finish. Leather pad is relatively new. Bores are bright with strong rifling. Action is tight, ejectors are timed well, triggers are crisp and barrels are on face. Case has various handling and use marks on both the outside and interior. Good hunting double rifle. CP
