Built circa 1999 this bespoke ordered handsome round body, 20 gauge sidelock is built with 2 sets of 3" chambered, 30" barrels. The blued chopper lump barrels are both fitted with Holland & Holland styled self-assisted opening mechanisms, ejectors, smooth tapered game concave ribs, round front brass bead sights, and gold inlaid barrel bands at muzzle. Barrel ribs read "WESTELY RICHARDS . ENGLAND." in gold inlay capped at both ends by elegant light floral scroll. Breech ends of barrels and ribs adorned with matching floral scroll. Bottoms on both sets of barrels stamped with the guns serial number "2152 I" and with barrel makers initials of "PC". Mostly shiny barrel flats are stamped accordingly with Birmingham nitro proofs, choke stamps of "QUARTER and IMPROVED MODIFIED", which was then converted to a "BRILEY" thin wall multi choke system, "20-76" for gauge (20) and chamber length (3"). Barrel flats also engraved "MODELE DE LUXE". The next set of barrel flats is stamped similarly with fixed chokes of "MODIFIED and FULL". Both set of barrels are fitted to accept the gun's side clips. The elegant case colored rounded frame sidelock action with gold line cocking indicator has been built with sideclips and auto safe with "SAFE" in gold. The action's sidelock plates and action bottom are finely engraved with light floral scroll throughout. Left lock is adorned with gold inlay of 3 flying pheasant over field with golden grass in background while right lock plate has a trio of wood duck flying through a wooded marsh with semi tall golden grass in background. Bottom action with gold inlay of standing pointer in field over golden grass. Just beneath the action flats there is the makers name "WESTLEY RICHARDS" in gold. All engraving eloquently executed and signed and dated "99" by world renown engraver A.L. HUNT. This superb and lively gun is built with a single mechanical case colored trigger. The smooth trigger is protected by a shiny, floral scroll engraved blued trigger guard which extends to the guns long bottom strap which has the guns serial number "2152 I" inlaid in gold. The Exhibition grade dark honey English walnut stock with straight hand grip and is superbly fine checkered and has a beautiful smoky grain, gold oval and a checkered butt which is protected by a case colored engraved skeleton butt plate. The matching beavertail forend has blued and lightly engraved iron metal with case colored and engraved escutcheon and pin. The forend's Anson styled push button release is blued and checkered. The gun lives in its canvas covered oak and leather makers case with paper trade case label, two piece ebony cleaning rod, 3 bone handled turnscrews, gold plated snap caps, gold plated oil bottle, cleaning accessories, Briley choke wrench, and Briley spare choke tubes. Nicely fitted within the case is a pair of off white colored bone handled hunting knives with sheaths. All bone handled accessories, snap caps and oil bottle bear the "WESTLEY RICHARDS" branding. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain 99% original black. Bores are bright, all ejectors are timed well. Action is tight on face. Left lock has lost its gold line from its cocking indicator. Trigger is smooth and crisp to pull. Stock and forend with very light handling marks. Great gun and set up! CP
