Circa 1987. A "Deluxe" model special little 28 bore game gun with three sets of blacked steel barrels. The three sets of dovetail barrels are fitted with smooth concave game ribs, white front site beads, and engraved at muzzle and breech with floral scrolls. Ribs read "WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co. ENGLAND". Near breech on rib the individual sets of barrels are numbered with "1", "2", "3" with gold inlay. All left barrels are engraved "28 GAUGE". The barrels ribs are all marked "DELUXE" on the short rib. Alongside forend loops are stamped MADE IN ENGLAND". Barrels flats are stamped with Birmingham proofs. All barrel flats are also stamped with choke dimension. The number one barrel being 25" is stamped: "SKEET (R) IMP / CYL (L)". The number two barrel being 26" is stamped "IMP / CYL (R) MOD (L)". The number three barrel being 27" is stamped "IMP / MOD (R) FULL (L)". This 28 gauge boxlock ejector on its petite scalloped frame is nicely case colored with engraved and gold inlay of flying woodcock on left side of receiver, golden flying grouse on its right, both on Bulino styled vignettes of wooded fields. "WESTLEY RICHARDS" is finely engraved atop receiver walls. The bottom of the action is engraved with wooded and open field with a gold inlaid flying pheasant flying over a gold inlaid pointing English setter. Beneath this and gold inlay and engraving but ahead of the trigger guard the word "DELUXE" is engraved. Just behind this blacked engraved action bottom is a right-hand rolled edged black trigger guard with long bottom strap, fine scroll and a gold inlaid pointing setter. The seven gold inlays and all full coverage tight scroll engraving exquisitely engraved by Master Engraver Alan Brown. The blued and finely engraved and checkered top lever sits above the single inertia triggered auto slide safe with "SAFE" in gold. The gun's caramel, strong grained with semi-gloss, hand-rubbed, oil-finished English walnut stock is complemented by its English straight hand fleur-de-lis decorated grip. Grip with fine checkering. The matching finely checkered slightly cast-off buttstock is smartly and handsomely adorned with a gold oval and case colored engraved skeletonized plate. The beavertail forend with matching checkering and fleur-de-lis design is built with blued engraved iron metal, engraved case colored escutcheon, case colored pin, and blued Anson style push-button release. The gun and its three sets of barrels are appropriately housed in its canvas-covered oak and leather maker's case. Case it fitted with three ebony handled turn screws, snap caps, cleaning rod, oil can, and black leather "WESTLEY RICHARDS" case label. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels all retain 99 percent blue with very few superficial storage marks. Bores are all bright. Stock with slight storage and handling marks. Bottom strap with slightly buggered screw. Action, ejectors, and trigger are all sound. Forend with minor storage wear. Very nice game gun. CP
