Circa 1991. An exquisite lightweight 28 gauge game gun with two sets 27 of blacked steel barrels. The two sets of chopper lump barrels are built with ejectors, smooth raised and tapered flat top rib, white front bead sight, and gold band inlay at muzzles. Both sets of barrel ribs read "WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co. ENGLAND", in gold inlay. Ribs have gold inlay "1" and "2" on the respective guns near breech. Breech ends of barrels are nicely adorned with floral scroll. Barrel flats on the number one set of barrels show Birmingham nitro proof marks and chokes of "Improved Mod." and "Improved" (implying improved cylinder). Barrels are stamped with the gun's serial number. The number "2" set of barrels also with Birmingham proofs and choke stamps reading "MODIFIED and EXTRA FULL". Both sets of barrel flats also stamped "28-70" for gauge and chamber length. The case colored scalloped and finely engraved boxlock action is adorned with gold inlays of flighted ducks on left side of action, flighted quail on right. Both sets of beautiful gold inlays are sitting atop of open wooded fields in a Bulino style. Action bottom engraved "DELUXE" and with gold inlays of a flying pheasant and a retriever glaring up at the possible escaping pheasant, both in vignette of open wooded field. The boxlock action is built with double triggers and an auto safe with "SAFE" in gold. Alongside and just beneath the action flats reads "WESTLEY RICHARDS" on right and left sides of action. The fine double triggers are protected by a blued scroll engraved trigger guard with gold inlay of a pointing dog which extends to the long bottom strap. Bottom strap also engraved with serial number "2152E". All engraving executed by Master Engravers - BROWN BROTHERS. The petite and lively gun's lovely English walnut stock is fitted with a nicely checkered straight hand grip which is adorned with fleur-de-lis cut borders and gold oval. The matching checkered buttstock is fitted with an engraved case colored skeleton butt plate. The matching beavertail forend is fitted with engraved case colored iron metal, escutcheon, pin and blued Anson styled push-button release. This lovely multi-functional side-by-side game gun is housed in a leather luggage case with canvas outer. Case is stocked with various cleaning tools such as, two bone-handled turnscrews that read "WESTLEY RICHARDS", bone-handled chamber brush, gold plated round oil bottle, snap caps, ebony two-piece cleaning rod, and attachments. Case with black and gold leather case label. Lid with round brass shield reading "WESTLEY RICHARDS" "2152E" CONDITION: Excellent. Both sets of barrels retain 99 percent original blue and bores are bright. Ejectors are timed well. Action is tight on face and triggers are crisp. Stock and forend with very light handling or storage marks. Case near mint with only light storage marks. Great Gun. CP
