A lovely pair of 28 bore boxlocks ejectors built in 1988 with consecutive serial numbers and 26" barrels. Both sets of dovetail barrels with matte, tapered, ventilated, raised ribs with white front bead sights. The number one gun "2152C" barrel has a gold inlaid number "1" while the number two gun number "2152D" also has a gold inlay "2" on the rib near breech. Barrels all with gold inlaid barrel bands at muzzle and both sets also with floral scroll at muzzle and breech. Barrels top ribs all with gold inlay reading "WESTLEY RICHARDS, ENGLAND". Bottoms of barrels stamped with their respective guns serial numbers and forend loops stamped reading "MADE IN ENGLAND". Shiny barrel flats are marked with appropriate Birmingham proof marks, gauge, and chamber length (2 - 3/4"). Barrel flats are also stamped with chokes of "IMP CYL and MOD" on the number "1" gun and "MOD and FULL" on the number "2" guns barrels. The nicely case colored boxlock actions are handsomely engraved by Master Engraver Phil Coggan (signature on trigger plate). The number one gun with light floral scroll, open wooded fields, and several gold inlays. Left side of action with two flying quail, right side with two flying pheasants and action bottom with gold inlays of a hunting dog watching flight of a soaring grouse through an open, and wooded field. The case colored single mechanical trigger is protected by a blued right hand-rolled edge trigger guard. Trigger guard is engraved with full coverage scroll along with a gold inlay of a standing hunting dog on the lookout. The guns blued engraved and checkered top lever bares a gold inlay number "1" on its top. The gun's auto-safe checkered slide has the word "SAFE" inlaid in gold just above the slide. The long bottom strap has the gun's serial number "2152C" in gold inlay. These guns English walnut stocks with straight handgrips have fine very checkering with fleur-de-lis borders, gold oval, grey patina case colored border engraved skeleton plate over its matching checkered butt. The number two gun with matching light floral scroll, open wooded fields, and also seven gold inlays. The left side of this action is detailed with two flying grouse, the right side also with two flying pheasants and action bottom with gold inlays of a hunting dog watching the flight of a grouse escaping through the open, but wooded field. This gun also with case colored single mechanical trigger is protected by a blued right hand-rolled edge trigger guard. The guard is engraved with full coverage light scroll along with a gold inlay of a pointing hunting dog on its bow. The guns blued engraved and checkered top lever bares a gold inlay number "2" on its top. The guns engraved auto-safe checkered slide has the word "SAFE" inlaid in gold just above the slide. The long bottom strap has the gun's serial number "2152D" in gold inlay. Matching beavertail forends both with blued scroll engraved iron metal. Underside iron metal post with guns serial numbers and the word "DELUXE" engraved. Escutcheons both with their appropriate gold inlay "1" and "2" and scroll engraved. Diamond-shaped pins with case colors and scroll engraved. Forends also with Anson-styled checkered push-button releases. These lovely guns are housed in a brown double luggage case with outer canvas cover. The case is equipped with "Westley Richards & Co. tools being a chamber brush, pull through, extractor key, three turnscrews, two nickel-plated oil bottles, cleaning accessories, two-piece cleaning rod, four nickel-plated snap caps. CONDITION: Excellent. Both sets of barrels retain 99% blue with shiny bores that ring like church bells. Actions are tight, ejectors are well-timed and triggers are crisp when firing snap caps. Stocks and forends with very light handling or storage marks. Case is excellent. Guns are excellent! CP
