Octagonal barrels marked "BATTLE" and "MALDON" on top; Stockel does not list a maker with either of these names and it may be a reference to the Battle of Maldon as a marketing device. Birmingham BPC and V proofs on underside of barrels. Spring loaded top folding bayonet and captive swivel ramrod. Barrels are lightly engraved at barrel ends, swivel, and near nipples with simple florals. Nipples with protective ears. Boxlock action engraved with flowing scroll and light geometric borders; dolphin form hammers and trigger guard engraved en suite. English stalking safeties. Checkered bag grip with vacant diamond for silver oval, vacant. CONDITION: Good as cleaned. Barrels have been extensively cleaned and then buffed over old oxidation, mostly visible at muzzle, heavily softening legends. Action is gunmetal grey throughout with even darkness. Grip is very good, pulling away slightly from action. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, including safeties. Bores are very good with a minimum of oxidation. Small pistols like this with a bayonet are rare, and would have been expensive in their day. EW
