Flint lock Kentucky rifle attributed to Peter White of first Emmitsburg, Maryland, then Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and finally Uniontown, Pennsylvania. This rifle looks to be either made at his time in Bedford or Uniontown. Full octagon rifled barrel with rifle sights with no markings and possibly shortened at one point in its career. Flint lock with gunsmith turned tail made trigger. Full curly maple stock with "Bedford" style architecture with brass hardware including a beautiful 4 piece patchbox with 9 piercings and hidden release in top sideplate. Bedford style "Ram's Horn" pattern engraving on lid with nice line pattern on balance and on the pierced sideplate of the lock. 12 engraved coin silver inlays with oval Federal Eagle on the cheekpiece. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has aged patina look with some surface corrosion and some pitting near breech. Lock is a reconversion with period looking parts. Wood has some restoration with a joint in the forestock right above tailpipe indicating forestock replacement. Wood also has some well done replacement around the lock. Dark bore with functioning mechanics. DLM
