Circa 1940s Lewis Design L55CK-43 airplane propeller. G.B. Lewis Company of Watertown, WI was established in 1863 and by 1909 wooden propellers would become one of the company's trademarks. This propeller is crafted from wood featuring a clear lacquer finish with green painted ends and brass edging. The bottom of the center hub is marked with the specifications "G.B. Lewis CO. / SER 16133 / DES. L55CK43 / PC NO. 20 T.C. 818". The back of the center hub is marked "16133". Propellers marked with the drawing number L55CK-43 were manufactured for the 85 horsepower Continental C-85 engines that were used on Aeronca Chief and Champion, Commonwealth Skyranger, Funk F2B, and Luscombe 8E Seaplane aircraft. There are 2 Lewis decals on each end of the wood blades that read "LEWIS / G.B Lewis Co / Watertown, Wis.". The propeller comes with a hand made mount from the previous consigner. CONDITION: The propeller exhibits various scratches and scuffs but is in overall good condition. This propeller is not intended for use and should only be used as a display piece. JLD
