Made 1936, indicating inter-war production when Colt was making some of their finest pistols with hand fitted parts. Slide correctly numbered to frame under firing pin retaining plate. Thick blade front sight with square notch rear sight, appropriate "NATIONAL MATCH COLT // AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE .45 // (RAMPANT COLT)" National Match rollmark on right side with 2 line patent and address information on right. Checkered small parts, short trigger, arched mainspring housing, and fully checkered walnut grips. Two tone dual pinned base magazine. Housed in a later wood grain Colt Government model box for a different gun. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining the vast majority of the Colt blue finish, with scattered marks from handling and use, mostly visible on slide. Front and back straps with distinct discoloration from previous owner grasping pistol. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent with crisp rifling and some frosting in grooves. Grips are excellent with some handling marks. Box is fair with significant rubbing and peeling, and exists to protect pistol. A rare opportunity to buy a high condition example from when Colt was producing some of their best pieces. EW
