W&C Scott & Sons Zephr hammer side by side shotgun. Made circa 1880s in England. 28" Damascus steel, round barrels marked "ENGLAND" on the bottom chamber area. Birmingham proofs denoting black powder use only. Inside of the frame is marked "W&C SCOTT&SON / MAKERS / PATENT ACTION", with typical Birmingham proofs. Serial numbers on the barrel, forearm, trigger guard and frame all match. Frame is marked "W&C. SCOTT & SON" on both sides of the frame. Nice scroll engraving the lever and firing pin housings. Oak leaf engraving on both sides of the lock plate. Trigger guard has company trademark (tower/flag) above the serial number. Wood stocks with checkering on the forearm and rib. "ENGLAND" marked behind the pistol grip. Plastic butt plate with deterioration. Both bores appear to be cylinder choke. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with some wear on the barrels. Lock has light light wear, but does not appear to be cleaned or polished. Wood has some mild handling marks, dents and scratches. Dark bores with a few minor pits towards the chambers. Tight action with tight hammers as well. JWA
