Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor Carbine made by Springfield Armory between 1879 and 1885. Blued round rifled barrel with hooded front sight and "C" marked flip buckhorn type rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Blued action with wide receiver and case hardened low arch breech block marked "U.S. Model 1873". Action has slide rail for saddle ring. Serial number of 129647 puts this gun in the correct range falling between 100000 and 280000. Blued 3 position lock marked with "Eagle" and "US Springfield" with no date. Walnut wood carbine style stock with blued hardware including trap in buttplate. Stock marked with "SWP 1888" in box with angled corners. CONDITION: 90% original blue and case colors with wear on carry and handling areas. Wood has added coat of solidified linseed oil with splash marks on barrel. Cartouche is slightly suspicious with what looks to be overstamp on the date. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
