At the butt end of the horn is a banner that is inscribed "IOHN REEVES / HIS HORN / CUT AT MONTREAL / OCTOBER 30TH = 1760". This French and Indian War horn has nicely carved images including New York City, various forts, houses, a sun, a bird and tulip, a ship and flowers. The length measures 13". CONDITION: This horn has a pleasing mottled light patina. There is a 1 1/2" x 1/2" piece of horn that is missing from the butt end. It is missing its wooden butt plug. There is also a 1/2" crack and another smaller chip along said rim. On the recessed spout end there is a hole drilled between the raised section and the carrying ring. Spout is faceted with two small holes and a minor chip. DRG
