Model 1908 Military Luger manufactured in 1911 by DWM. This example is rust blued, with the small parts being strawed, as well as nitre blued on the grip screws, magazine catch spring, sear bar retaining spring, and toggle axle pins. Early features include the lack of a hold-open latch and lack of a stock lug. Receiver is marked "1911" over the chamber area with DWM proofs and a German imperial eagle on the right hand side. German imperial eagle is also present on the barrel and on the left hand side of the breechblock. Numbers are all matching matching down to the firing pin, and were applied in the proper early military fashion. Complete with a 1911 dated "A. DAHL/ BARMEN" marked holster, with what appears to be a partially illegible "B.A.VII/ WFss.A.R.7" unit marking on the inner flap, identifying this holster to the Foot Artillery Regiment No. 7. CONDITION: Metal components retain plentiful amounts of their original rust blue finish, exhibiting areas of edge wear that show through to silvering, with some small scattered areas of light wear and a few spots of light surface oxidation. Front grip strap exhibits thinning that shows through to a pleasant brown patina. Strawed components show wear all around, with protected areas retaining more finish. Nitre blued components exhibit usual wear, with the grip screws retaining traces of their original finish. Bore is bright, showing light oxidation as well as well defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips show some nicks to the diamonds, as well as a mixture of a few small and a couple sizable impressions on the right grip panel. Leather holster bears a few scattered marks from use and storage, with portions of the manufacturer stamp and unit stamp being partially worn away. A very nice and desirable 1911 dated Model 1908 Luger. -MLW-
