Alexander Henry designed rifled musket ordered by New South Wales (Australia) in 1877 with approximately 6,000 made. Guns were not very popular due to their left handed hammer. Gun has blued round rifled barrel with pinned blade front sight and flip graduated rear sight and proofs at breech. Blued Alexander Henry falling block action with left handed hammer and distinctive push button lever release. Action marked on left with "Henry's Patent" and on right with "N.A. & A. Co. 1877" which stands for National Arms and Ammunition Company who had the 6th order for these rifles in 1877. Walnut full military stock with steel hardware including stud for saber bayonet. Stock is marked on right with "N.S.W." for "NEW SOUTH WALES" and "M 84" which is possibly a rack number along with "S", arrows, and illegible stamping in circle. Interesting seldom seen rifle. CONDITION: Metal fading to a plum patina with light freckling and usage marks. Wood has been cleaned with dings and usage marks and added coat of shellac or oil. Replaced steel rod.
