Circa 1897. Barrel (A) is a 28" octagon barrel chambered for .30-30 WCF and fitted with Marlin Rocky Mountain front sight (Knife Edge) and Marlin Rocky Mountain rear sight (Buckhorn). Top of barrel reads 'MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. PATENTED.OCT.11.1887.APRIL 2.1889.AUGUST 1.1893" and ".30-30 toward breech, right side reads "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL." Barrel (B) is a 28" octagon barrel chambered for .38/55 and fitted with a dovetail blade front sight and Marlin Rocky Mountain rear sight (Buckhorn). Top of barrel reads 'MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW - HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. PATENTED.OCT.11.1887.APRIL 2.1889.AUGUST 1.1893" and ".38-55 toward breech, right side reads "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL." The grey/blue patina receiver reads "MARLIN SAFETY" on top, "MODEL 1893" on tang and "158858" on bottom of frame toward front. The walnut stock and forend are checkered. The buttstock has a pistol grip and steel crescent heel plate. CONDITION: Barrel (A) has ding in tube near muzzle, minor handling and storage marks on finish of barrel/tube and fore-end. Barrel (B) with minor handling and storage marks on finish of barrel/tube and fore-end. Handling and storage marks on buttstock. (CP)
