Winchester M1 "Paratrooper Style" Carbine with leg bag. Made in the first major Winchester serial block spanning from late 1942 to early 1944. No import mark found. Barrel is unmarked and not dated. Inland Type III band. Unmarked front sight base with an Inland adjustable rear sight. Winchester marked trigger housing and slide. Inland marked bolt and handguard. The stock looks to be an original paratrooper stock. There is a boxed "AAS" rebuild stamp on the left side above the pistol grip. An un-circled "P" on the front of the grip indicating inspection. There is an "IO" stamped on the inside of the barrel channel. Forged, folding metal butt plate has a "B257614" stamped, followed by a "sunburst" and the number "2". The metal components have been arsenal reparkerized, most likely done post war. The walnut stock has a light oil finish. Includes a green canvas "leg bag" case, marked "HARIAN/44" on the inside flap. Metal oiler is retained on the right side, in its slot. No magazine is included. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its arsenal reapplied parkerized finish with a few handling marks and scratches. Stock is excellent as well, with no visible cracks. There is a small gouge of the left side of the stock where the butt plate rests against. There is a small crack in the the leather check piece, but it is otherwise solid. Bore is clean overall with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. Bag has sole light exterior wear, but is otherwise fine.
