Rare slide action shotgun made by the Burgess Gun Company of Buffalo, New York between 1892 and 1899. Firm later bought by Winchester. Damascus barrel with fixed bead front sight and Burgess patent dates and address. Blued takedown frame with unique wrist slide action grip with exposed hammer and button release on trigger guard. Walnut pistol grip stock with hard rubber buttplate and separate wood grip slide handle. Walnut checkered forearm with 2/3 tubular magazine. CONDITION: Metal turning a brown patina with wear on corners. Wood has traces of original finish with usage marks and dings. Slide handle has some added finish and filler. Good bore and mechanics. A rare and unique gun. DLM
