Circa 1886, A 12 bore hammer gun with 30" dovetail fluid blacked steel barrels with extractors and 2 - 1/2" chambers. The tapered concave game rib is fitted with a small steel round front bead sight. Chokes are Cylinder and Full. Hammer action with double triggers and checkered top lever. Case colored action and hardware engraved with fine scroll and floral bouquets. "JOSEPH LANG & SON" engraved on side panels just beneath water table. The reddish-brown English walnut stock with strong straight figure through slender pistol grip and nicely marbled buttstock is complimented by fine point checkering, steel case colored grip cap, engraved gold oval, and finished by a case hardened steel buttplate. Triggers are protected by a blacked scroll engraved trigger guard that extends to a long bottom strap. Snap splinter forend with matched checkering and case colored scroll engraved forend metal. The gun is housed in an oak and leather makers case with "JOSEPH LANG & SON" paper trade label, cleaning equipment, and tools. CONDITION: Good. Barrels can use strip and re-black. Bores are very good with high wall thicknesses and ring like church bells. Action and triggers are sound but could do with a strip and clean. Stock is good with some handling marks. Forend also with some handling marks. Overall good gun just needs a little TLC. CP
