Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952) is considered among the premier photographers of the West, with special attention paid to Native American subjects. His powerful 1904 "Canon de Chelly" photograph depicting a group of mounted Navajo in the namesake Arizona canyon is widely considered one of his most important and iconic works. This photogravure print is signed in ink at the lower right corner and stamped with "COPYRIGHT 1904/BY E. S. CURTIS" impression. In period woodgrain frame. Image 7 - 3/4" x 6". Overall 14" x 12 - 1/5". CONDITION: Very good with some light discoloration. Frame has some chipping around the edge. BAS
