Manufactured between 1856 and 1864 with only a total production of several hundred. This is the largest caliber of all the Sporting Rifles. It is a full stock with a 5-shot fluted cylinder. Two barrel bands, one with a sling swivel and a full-length steel cleaning rod. Brass cap at the muzzle end of the stock. Brass trigger guard and lower tang with sling swivel attached. Steel butt plate with trapdoor. It is missing the brass cleaning rod out of the buttstock. 3-leaf 100, 300 and 600 yard rear sight with a German silver front sight. Exposed percussion side hammer. "COLT'S PATENT / NOV. 24TH, 1857" is stamped on the left side of the receiver. CONDITION: Gun has turned an even brown patina. Front and rear stock show the usual dents and dings with no cracks. Dark bore with pitting in the lands and grooves. REW
