Half moon front sight, U notch rear sight. left side with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting pony, right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S.ARMY". Subinspector proofs on inside of slide. Barrel with "P / H" on hood, oriented to be read with muzzle up, "Z" on left side of barrel of lug, and "D". Left side of dust cover with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" roll mark, Gilbert proof above checkered magazine release. Right side of slide with serial number. Spurred checkered hammer, checkered slide release with relief mull cut, thick tab safety, short 1911 grip safety, flat smooth mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond checkered walnut grips. Two tone dual pinned base magazine with no mark on lip. In a contemporary kraft box with ink stamped "ONE COLT CAL 45ACP / SN # / STD. ORD. REV. 5463-2 / COLT PT. F. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". CONDITION: Very good, retaining more than half of the Colt brushed blue finish with scattered oxidation and patina, mostly to front of slide and straps. Legends are crisp. Slide release is a conversion and reblued example of an early relief mill cut and likely fabricated for this pistol. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is good with strong rifling and frosting throughout. Box is fine as new. A good honest example. EW
